How to Apply
If you are a community group interested in applying to the Climate Challenge Fund (CCF) it is important that you understand the fund’s criteria and address these in your application.
The fund aims to support community projects that:
- Focus on significant carbon emission reduction
- Are community led
- Take a long term view - improving the quality of life for present and future generations
Keep Scotland Beautiful (KSB) Development Officers are able to provide you with guidance as you complete your application to help make your application as strong as possible. We encourage you to make the most of this support. It is important to provide a detailed project plan within your application, which clearly details what activities the application is proposing and how these activities will achieve your desired outcomes.

We encourage you to make the most of this support. It is important to provide a detailed project plan within your application, which clearly details what activities the application is proposing and how these activities will achieve your desired outcomes.
Step by step guide to the application process
To help clearly describe the application process we have put together a step-by-step guide of the process;
Step 1: Submit an Expression of Interest Form available here (We are no longer accepting EoIs for the Grant Panel on the 31 January 2012 but you can submit an EoI for a later round. Due to the volume of EoIs we can only guarantee a response within 4 weeks)
Step 2: A KSB Development Officer will review your submission and respond to you within four weeks
If the organisation and the proposed activities are eligible KSB will email you the application form that you will need to complete.
Step 3: Read the CCF Application Guidance Note. These can be download here as either a pdf or Word document:

Step 4: Submit draft application well in advance of the deadline
Step 5: KSB reviews this draft and provides feedback
Step 6: Submit final application before deadline
Please note that throughout Steps 3-6 KSB’s development officers will be available to discuss your application and offer advice in some cases this may include commenting on a number of drafts.
Step 7: KSB summarises the completed application and circulates them to the CCF Grant Panel
Step 8: The CCF Grant Panel meet to consider the applications and make a recommendation to the Scottish Government on funding
Step 9: The Scottish Government considers the CCF Grant Panel recommendations
Step 10: Applicants are contacted by KSB and notified of the funding decision
Step 11: The Scottish Government announces the successful applications.
